Nature Inspired Learning

Part museum, part zoo, part library and part classroom, the Nature Center is arguably one of the most exciting spots on Spring Island. With aquariums, terrariums, taxidermied species and a touch table, this awesome showcase wows kids from 2 – 82. Archeology, geology, animals and plants are all on display and ready to inspire visitors to the Nature Center.

Dr. Andy Jones, Executive Director

Dr. Andy Jones is a lifelong naturalist with a passion for the biodiversity of the southeastern United States. He served as curator of ornithology at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History from 2006 to 2022, leading research on bird taxonomy, hybridization, and migration.

In May 2022, he joined the Spring Island Trust and Lowcountry Institute as Executive Director, continuing his dedication to conservation and education.
