Life Flows Naturally Here

The waterways around Spring Island are essential to its beauty, ecology, and way of life. Surrounded by 3,000 acres of salt marsh and bordered by the Colleton and Chechessee Rivers - both part of the deep, nutrient-rich Port Royal Sound - Spring Island enjoys a vibrant aquatic environment. Though more than ten miles inland, the water here is nearly as salty as the ocean and supports a healthy, diverse fish population.

In addition to its rivers and marshes, the island is dotted with over 30 ponds, including freshwater and saltwater varieties. These serene spots not only offer quiet moments for reflection and fishing, but also serve as nesting grounds for herons, egrets, Wood Storks, perfect fishing locations for Bald Eagles and Members alike.
